9:12-1. Commitment authorized; powers of board In any county wherein the board of chosen freeholders maintains for children an almshouse, welfare house or home, under the charge of a board of managers thereof appointed and regulated by such board of chosen freeholders, a court authorized to commit a child to the care and custody of a society, association or corporation for the prevention of cruelty to children, may commit such child to the care and custody of such board of managers, in which case such board of managers shall have the same power respecting such child as such society, association or corporation may have in the like case.
