53:1-20.3. Release of prisoners from penal or other institutions; notice to bureau; photographs It shall be the duty of the wardens of the county jail in the various counties, of the wardens of the county penitentiaries and workhouses in the various counties of the State and of the Principal Keeper of the State Prison and of the wardens or superintendents of the other State institutions to which prisoners are or may be committed upon the release of any prisoner in their respective charges to notify the Bureau of Identification of the county from which that prisoner was committed and the Bureau of Identification of the State Police of the fact of such prisoner's release and the date of such release. In the case of any such prisoner who was committed for a term of 5 years or more, it shall also be the duty of the Principal Keeper of the State Prison to forward to the Bureau of Identification of the county from which the prisoner was committed and to the Bureau of Identification of the State Police, at the time of giving the said notification, a photograph of the said prisoner taken within the 30-day period immediately preceding his release.
