53:1-20.2. Duty of law enforcement officers and public officers and employees to supply information; County Bureau of Identification defined To the end that the county bureaus of identification in each of the counties of this State and the bureau of identification of the Department of the State Police may have available the requisite information for the keeping of such records, it shall be the duty of sheriffs, members of the State Police, county detectives, chiefs of police and other law enforcement officers, immediately upon the receipt of a complaint that an indictable offense has been committed, to forward to the county bureau of identification and the bureau of identification of the State Police Department all of such information which can at that time be obtained, on forms to be provided for that purpose by the head of the office in which such county bureau of identification is established. It shall also be the duty of such officers, from time to time, upon receipt of additional information, to forward the same to the county bureau of identification and to the bureau of identification of the State Police Department, on forms to be provided for that purpose by the head of the office in which such county bureau of identification is established. It shall also be the duty of the prosecutor of the pleas, the county clerks, and the probation office in the various counties of this State to supply to the county bureau of identification and to the bureau of identification in the Department of State Police all information on record in their respective offices which may be necessary to complete the records in the prescribed form, as set forth in section one hereof. The duties herein prescribed to be performed by the public officers and employees herein referred to shall be additional to the duties now prescribed by law to be performed by such public officers and employees. The words "The County Bureau of Identification," as used in this act, shall be taken to mean the bureau of identification as now established in the office of the sheriff or in the office of the prosecutors of the pleas in the respective counties in this State.
