52:27D-4. Assistant commissioners; appointment; salary; powers and duties The commissioner shall be assisted in the performance of his duties by 2 Assistant Commissioners of Community Affairs, who shall be persons qualified by training and experience to perform the duties of their offices. Each assistant commissioner shall be appointed by the commissioner and shall serve at the pleasure of the commissioner and until said assistant commissioner's successor has been appointed and has qualified. Each assistant commissioner shall receive such salary as shall be provided by law, and shall perform such duties as the commissioner shall prescribe, to be exercised under the supervision and direction of the commissioner. The commissioner also may delegate to subordinate officers or employees in the department such of his powers as he may deem desirable, to be exercised under his supervision and direction.
