Additional powers and duties of council

52:27C-10. Additional powers and duties of council The council, in addition to other powers and duties specifically vested in it, shall: a. Consult with and advise the commissioner with respect to the work of the department. b. Approve or disapprove the appointment of officers and employees other than directors of divisions, the engaging of technical and professional experts, and the fixing of their compensation by the commissioner. c. Survey and study the operations of the department. d. Hold hearings when required by law or whenever it deems desirable. e. Report to the Governor and the Legislature with respect to such matters relating to the work of the department and at such times as it may deem in the public interest.
