52:25-16.2. Solicitation of bids for volunteer fire department, first aid, rescue squads The director may, on the written request of any political subdivision, volunteer fire department, or volunteer first aid or rescue squad of this State, singly or jointly develop specifications or establish approved brand name lists of commonly used commodities, equipment or services, even though such commodities, equipment or services may not be purchased or used by the State. In these cases, the resulting specifications or approved brand name lists shall be submitted to the political subdivision, volunteer fire department, or volunteer first aid or rescue squad initiating the request for approval. After approval by the parties concerned, the director may, at the request of the applicant political subdivision, volunteer fire department, or volunteer first aid or rescue squad, solicit bids pursuant to P.L.1954, c. 48 (C. 52:34-6 et seq.). After determining the lowest responsible bidder meeting all of the specifications and conditions, the director shall notify the applicant political subdivision, volunteer fire department, or volunteer first aid or rescue squad of the results.
