51:1-26. Sale of fruits or vegetables in nonstandard containers forbidden Except as standards are otherwise provided by law, no person shall sell or deliver, or have in possession with intent to sell or deliver any fruits, berries or vegetables contained in any box, basket or other container, unless such box, basket or other container shall be of the capacity, in standard dry measure, of thirty-two, twenty, sixteen, eight, four, or two quarts, or one quart or one pint. This section shall not be construed to apply to the sale or delivery, or the possession with intent to sell or deliver, of any fruits, berries or vegetables contained in any sealed can, jar or bottle, or which are sold by the barrel, except cranberries, which may be sold in standard crates or barrels of the standard measure prescribed by sections 51:1-20 and 51:1-21 of this title.
