48:12-107. Baggage checks; penalty for refusal A check shall be affixed to every parcel of baggage taken for transportation by a railroad company if there is a handle, loop or fixture on the parcel to which a check can be attached. A duplicate check shall be given to the passenger or the person delivering the baggage on his behalf. If such check is refused on demand, the company shall pay the passenger ten dollars to be recovered in a civil action and no fare shall be collected from the passenger and any fare paid by him shall be refunded by the conductor in charge of the train.
