46:24-16. Liability of county recording officer for errors or omissions The county recording officer of any county in which local or block indexes shall be adopted shall be liable for any loss or damage to any person interested, by reason of his failure to index an instrument as required by this chapter, or by reason of any erroneous entry made by him or by his direction, or by any deputy or clerk appointed by him, in any books of index to be kept in his office as required by this chapter.
