45:9-37.83 Licensing requirements for electrologist. 8. To be eligible for licensure as an electrologist, an applicant shall fulfill the following requirements: a. be at least 18 years of age; b. be of good moral character; c. have successfully completed high school or its equivalent; d. (1) have successfully completed an electrology education program approved by the board, in consultation with the committee, including: (a) at least 200 hours of instruction in the theory of electrology; and (b) at least 400 hours of instruction in the clinical practice of electrology taught by an electrology instructor licensed pursuant to the provisions of this act. The clinical program shall include instruction in all modalities of electrology including galvanic, thermolysis and any other modality approved by the board; or (2) have completed in another state an electrology education program determined by the board to be substantially equivalent to that required pursuant to this subsection; and e. have passed an examination administered or approved by the board to determine the applicant's competence to practice electrology.
