N.J.S.A. 45:17A-21 — Duties of Attorney General

45:17A-21. Duties of Attorney General 4. The Attorney General shall: a. Administer and enforce the provisions of this act; b. Propose and adopt rules pursuant to the "Administrative Procedure Act," P.L.1968, c.410 (C.52:14B-1 et seq.), to effectuate the purposes of this act; c. Conduct hearings pursuant to the "Administrative Procedure Act," P.L.1968, c.410 (C.52:14B-1 et seq.) including the authority to administer oaths to witnesses, and shall have the power to issue subpoenas for the compulsory attendance of witnesses and the production of pertinent documents, books, records, accounts, computer data, papers, or records; d. Prosecute proceedings before any court of competent jurisdiction for the enforcement of the provisions of this act; e. Keep a record of the names and addresses of all registered charitable organizations, fund raising counsels, independent paid fund raisers, and solicitors; f. Prescribe the fees for all registration statements, and other filings required by this act and set all bonding amounts as necessary in accordance with the provisions of this act. All fees shall be prescribed pursuant to the "Administrative Procedure Act, "P.L.1968, c.410 (C.52:14B-1 et seq.); g. Publish and disseminate information concerning charities to the public; h. Examine each contract, registration statement and supporting document, if any, and determine whether they satisfy the requirements of this act; i. Perform any other functions and duties which may be necessary to carry out the provisions of this act. L.1994,c.16,s.4.
