44:5-6. Making of contract If a majority of all the ballots cast at the election referred to in section 44:5-5 of this title are in favor of the adoption of the provisions of sections 44:5-4 to 44:5-7 of this title, the proper municipal authorities shall enter into a contract as provided in section 44:5-4. If there is more than one hospital supported in whole or in part by private subscription, in the city, the proper municipal authorities may designate with which of the hospitals the contract shall be made, or enter into contracts with more than one of them and apportion the amount so to be raised by taxation among them, in the manner which in the discretion of the municipal authorities may be for the best interests of the public.
