44:4-69. County chargeable with relief of all persons having settlement Every person who has, or shall acquire a settlement in any county shall be chargeable as to permanent relief and be supported and maintained or relieved by such entire county, and the board of chosen freeholders shall provide for the payment of the expense thereof as other county expenses are paid.
