40A:10-3. Insurance for operators Every local unit, other than one providing insurance coverage under Article 3 of this chapter, shall provide insurance coverage under this article for the operators of all motor vehicles, equipment and apparatus owned by or under its control, or owned by or under the control of any of its departments, boards, agencies or commissions, against liability for damages to property, in any one accident, in an amount of not less than $5,000.00, and against liability for injuries or death of one person, in any one accident, in an amount of not less than $50,000.00, and against liability for injuries or death or more than one person, in any one accident, in an amount of not less than $100,000.00.
