Power to insure

40A:10-1. Power to insure A local unit may insure with any insurance company authorized to do business in this State or by the insurance fund provided by Article 3 of this chapter: a. Its property, motor vehicles, equipment or apparatus, or any property, motor vehicles, equipment or apparatus owned or under the control of any of its departments, boards, agencies or commissions against loss or damage however caused; b. Any motor vehicles, equipment or apparatus owned by it or under its control, or owned by or under the control of any of its departments, boards, agencies or commissions, against all liability arising from the ownership, use or operation thereof; c. Against liability for its negligence and that of its officers, employees or servants, whether or not compensated or part-time, who are authorized to perform any act or services, but not including an independent contractor within the limitations of the "New Jersey Tort Claims Act" (N.J.S. 59:1-1 et seq.).
