40:67-17. Statues and memorials erected upon public streets The governing body may construct and maintain upon the public streets and places thereof, statues, monuments, tablets, fountains and memorials, commemorative of any person or public event; accept and maintain any statue, monument, tablet, fountain or memorial presented to the municipality, and contribute money toward the construction or maintenance thereof.
