40:62-7. Establishment; lands and buildings; acquisition and construction; use and regulation The governing body may establish, maintain and operate a municipal abattoir, and for that purpose may acquire, by gift, devise, purchase, condemnation or lease, all necessary lands and buildings therefor, or may acquire, by gift, devise, purchase or condemnation, lands and erect thereon suitable buildings, and, from time to time, alter and improve the same, and equip all such buildings with proper apparatus and machinery. The governing body may also make, amend, repeal and enforce ordinances, rules and regulations for the control, management and use of any abattoir so established, and fixing the rental and other charges for its use. No abattoir shall be established by any municipality within any other municipality except with the consent of the governing body and board of health of that municipality.
