Sale of vacated street land; advertisement unnecessary

40:60-28. Sale of vacated street land; advertisement unnecessary Whenever any road, street, highway, lane or alley has been or shall hereafter be lawfully altered or relocated in such manner as to leave a portion of the original road, street, highway, lane or alley not needed for public use, and the municipality has or shall have vacated or released the public rights therein, the municipality, if it be the owner of the fee of said land, may make a private sale of and convey the lands so vacated to the adjoining property owner or owners at such price as it may deem fair and just. The provisions of section 40:60-26 of this title shall not apply to such sale.
