Acquisition of real property for use by State-operated college of medicine or college of medicine and dentistry

40:60-25.57. Acquisition of real property for use by State-operated college of medicine or college of medicine and dentistry Any municipality in which a State-operated college of medicine or college of medicine and dentistry, is located, or proposed to be located, is hereby empowered to acquire by purchase, gift, grant, devise or otherwise, and to take for public use, any estate or interest in any real property within the municipality by condemnation, in the manner provided by chapter 1 of Title 20 of the Revised Statutes, except as otherwise provided by this act. The municipality may thereupon sell and convey any estate or interest in any real property so acquired to such college for use by the college for the construction of such facilities as may be required by the college in the performance of its teaching, research and treatment functions. Any estate or interest in any real property so acquired may be sold by the municipality to such college for a nominal consideration for the purpose of promoting the health and general welfare of the municipality.
