40:59-1. Acquisition of lands and buildings; construction The governing body may acquire and maintain market buildings and market facilities, or additional market buildings or market facilities, and may erect such building or buildings, and acquire such lands by purchase, gift or condemnation as in its judgment are suitable and necessary for market purposes.
