40:56-8. Acquisition of private works and property; condemnation; assessment for benefits Any municipality may acquire by purchase or condemnation any property or works mentioned in this article which at the time of such purchase or condemnation is privately owned or operated, and assessments for benefits accruing therefrom may be made and levied upon the lands benefited thereby.
