Adoption of changed name; copies filed

40:43-5. Adoption of changed name; copies filed If a majority of the votes cast upon such question at such election shall be in favor of the change of name, such name shall thereupon be so changed and the name adopted shall become the official title of the municipality. The clerk of the municipality shall forthwith record in the official minutes the result of the election thereupon, and shall cause a certified copy of such minutes to be filed and recorded in the office of the clerk of the county in which such municipality is situated, and shall also file in the office of the secretary of state a certified statement showing the change of the name and the new name so adopted.
