40:35A-1. Establishment of service and operation of system; resolution or ordinance The governing body of any county may by resolution or ordinance, as the case may be, provide for the establishment of a public transportation service and the operation of a public transportation system within the county and to the extent that it is agreeable and deemed advisable, between the county and municipalities within adjoining counties. The governing body may acquire, erect or lease such vehicles, equipment and facilities, including land and buildings, and do any and all things necessary for the establishment and operation of the public transportation service and system.
