40:35-3. Contracts for services instead of building plants If the board of chosen freeholders shall deem it more advantageous to the county, it may contract with any person for the lighting of any roads owned or controlled by the county, or any of the public places of the county, or for supplying light, heat or power for buildings or institutions owned or controlled by the county, for any term not exceeding five years.
