40:23-28. Freeholders to furnish crushed stone to municipalities In counties of the second, third and fifth classes in which there is a stone quarry and a stone crusher operated in connection therewith, owned and worked by the county, the board of chosen freeholders shall furnish and supply therefrom, free of cost, towards the making, working, mending and repairing of the public roads and highways in the municipalities of the county, and the roads and walks in public parks of such municipalities, whether the same be within or without the municipal limits of the municipality, excepting improved county roads, such quantity of crushed or broken stone, and of such size or sizes, as shall be requested by such municipalities, as hereinafter provided.
