40:20-27. Existing laws continued All laws, public, general, special or private, relating to boards of chosen freeholders in force in any county at the time sections 40:20-20 to 40:20-35 of this title take effect therein shall apply to the boards of chosen freeholders elected under the provisions thereof, so far as they shall not be inconsistent with the provisions thereof and the boards of chosen freeholders elected thereunder shall be vested with all the powers, authority, rights and privileges and shall have imposed upon them all the duties which are vested in or imposed upon the boards of chosen freeholders then existing. All such laws in force or in anywise applicable to the boards of chosen freeholders existing at the time such change takes effect shall be continued in force and made applicable to the boards of chosen freeholders elected under the provisions of said sections 40:20-20 to 40:20-35 except so far as they may be inconsistent with the meaning thereof.
