4:8-17.14. Seed treated with harmful substance; label or tag Each container of seed treated with a substance harmful to man or other animals shall bear thereon in a conspicuous place, a plainly written or printed label or tag in the English language, giving the information prescribed in (a), (b), (c) and (d) of this section, which statement shall not be modified or denied in the labeling or on another label attached to the container (for which a separate label may be used). For bulk shipments such information shall be set forth in a conspicuous place on the bill of lading and invoice: (a) A word or statement indicating that the seed has been treated; (b) The commonly accepted, coined, chemical, or abbreviated chemical (generic) name of the applied substance; (c) If the substance in the amount present with the seed is harmful to man or other animals, a cautionary statement such as "Do not use for food or feed or oil purposes." The caution for mercurials and similarly toxic substances shall be a poison statement, and symbol classification of substances shall conform as nearly as practicable to the rules and regulations of the federal Seed Act; and (d) If the seed is treated with an inoculant, the date the inoculant becomes ineffective.
