N.J.S.A. 39:8-59

Findings, declarations relative to emissions from diesel-powered vehicles

39:8-59. Findings, declarations relative to emissions from diesel-powered vehicles 1. The Legislature finds and declares that exhaust emissions from diesel buses, heavy-duty diesel trucks, and other diesel-powered motor vehicles contribute significantly to air pollution problems within the State; that such emissions diminish the quality of life and health of our citizens; and that the technology and state of the art in determining and controlling the level of unacceptable exhaust emissions from diesel buses, heavy-duty diesel trucks, and other diesel-powered motor vehicles are continually being advanced and that the procedures, test methods and standards for determination of such unacceptable levels must be reflective of those advances. The Legislature therefore determines that it is in the public interest to establish a program regulating exhaust emissions from diesel buses, heavy-duty diesel trucks, and certain other diesel-powered motor vehicles. L.1995,c.157,s.1.
