Private inspection centers

39:8-11. Private inspection centers The director may, after appropriate inquiry and investigation, license to operate private inspection centers as many qualified and properly equipped persons engaged in the business of motor vehicle repairs and service as are necessary, to conduct initial motor vehicle inspections, and to certify that the specific items for which a vehicle was initially rejected have been adjusted, corrected or repaired by him or under his direction, and that the condition of the items conforms to the standards established by law or regulation. The certification shall be evidenced by a private inspection approval sticker placed on the vehicle as prescribed by the director. L. 1975, c. 156, s. 3, eff. July 16, 1975.
