39:4-98.4 Definitions relative to 65 MPH speed limit. 3. As used in this act: "Authorities" means the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and the South Jersey Transportation Authority. "Commissioner" means the Commissioner of Transportation. "Eligible public highways" means public highways as defined in section 3 of P.L.1984, c.73 (C.27:1B-3) of which portions have been determined by the commissioner to be appropriate for a 65 miles per hour speed limit based on such criteria as determined by the commissioner. Public highways under the jurisdiction of counties and municipalities shall not be eligible public highways. L.1997, c.415, s.3; amended 2013, c.253, s.22.
