39:4-197.14 Permissive benefits. 6. The governing body of a municipality, by ordinance, may appropriate annually sums of money as it shall deem necessary for the purpose of compensating any such person for the person's services. The governing body of a municipality may provide the members of the parking enforcement unit for persons with disabilities with coverage under chapter 15 of Title 34 of the Revised Statutes (Workers' Compensation) or if the governing body chooses not to provide such coverage, it may appropriate annually sums of money as it shall deem necessary for the purpose of compensating such persons for any losses which would otherwise be compensable under chapter 15 of Title 34 of the Revised Statutes (Workers' Compensation). However, neither the municipality nor the State shall be required to provide any benefits thereto whatsoever. L.1991, c.442, s.6; amended 2017, c.131, s.163.
