38A:21A-5 Veteran Advocate, receiving, investigating complaints from veterans, family. 5. The Veteran Advocate shall serve as an ombudsman for veterans and their families by receiving and investigating complaints from veterans and family members of veterans in this State and issuing reports regarding issues with veteran�s services provided by any State entity or any private entity that receives State funding for providing veteran�s services regardless of whether or not the veteran resides in a veterans� facility, as defined by section 4 of P.L.2025, c.172 (C.38A:21A-4). The Veteran Advocate shall review, monitor, and report on the performance of State entities and State-funded private entities charged with the care and supervision of veterans by conducting research audits or other studies of case records, policies, procedures, and protocols, as deemed necessary by the Veteran Advocate to assess the performance of the entities.
