38A:21-4 Commissioner of the Department of Veterans Affairs. 38A:21-4. The administrator and head of the department shall be a commissioner, who shall be known as the Commissioner of the Department of Veterans Affairs and who shall be an honorably discharged veteran qualified by training and experience to perform the duties of the office. The commissioner shall be appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate and shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor during the Governor's term of office and until the appointment and qualification of the commissioner's successor. The entire time of the commissioner shall be devoted to the duties of the office and the commissioner shall receive such salary as shall be provided by law. Any vacancy occurring in the office of the commissioner shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointment. L.2025, c.139, s.4.
