Policemen, firemen, and motor vehicle inspectors; time spent in armed forces

38:16-6. Policemen, firemen, and motor vehicle inspectors; time spent in armed forces Any time spent by any member of a police or fire department of any municipality or county of this State or by any State motor vehicle inspector in the armed forces of the United States during the present war shall be counted as time spent in the active service of the police or fire department of such municipality or county or of the State Department of Motor Vehicles, and any such policeman, fireman or motor vehicle inspector shall be entitled to be advanced in grade and to all increased pay that he might have received had he not entered the service of the United States but remained in active service in such police or fire department or State Department of Motor Vehicles.
