2A:36-4. Defense of retaking on fresh pursuit in action of escape In an action for an escape against a sheriff or other officer no retaking on fresh pursuit shall be a defense unless the sheriff, or other officer shall show that the person for whose escape the action is brought escaped without his consent or knowledge.
