26:4-57.2. Inquiry by director of health Upon receipt of any such application the director shall inquire into the circumstances for the purpose of determining whether such person should properly receive medical or surgical treatment and hospital care as a result of the carrier condition and is unable to pay for such treatment and care, and whether such person is in need of aid for maintenance as a result of inability to earn a livelihood for himself or dependents because of restrictions placed upon such a carrier by the laws of this state or by regulations enacted by the state department of health to protect the public health.
