23:4-15. Baiting wild fowl prohibited; penalty No person shall sow, deposit or place any rye, wheat, oats, corn or other cereal, except wild celery and wild rice, within four hundred feet of a gunning point in any of the salt or fresh waters of this state, or cause the same to be done, for the purpose of luring, decoying or baiting any goose, duck, swan, brant or other kind of waterfowl, so that the same may be shot at, killed or captured while feeding or attempting to feed thereon; or shoot at, kill or capture any goose, duck, swan, brant or other waterfowl while feeding or attempting to feed where any rye, wheat, oats, corn or other cereal, except wild celery and wild rice, is known to have been sown, deposited or placed in violation of this section, under a penalty of fifty dollars for each offense.
