Candidate removed from office ineligible to fill vacancies; exception

19:3-21. Candidate removed from office ineligible to fill vacancies; exception A candidate or other person removed from or deprived of his office for any offense mentioned in this title shall not, during the period remaining as the unexpired term of such office, or during the period fixed by law as the next ensuing term of such office, be appointed to fill any vacancy which may occur in such office; but this provision shall not apply to appointments to any office the qualifications for which are prescribed by the constitution of this state or of the United States.
