Military training; referendum

18A:35-11. Military training; referendum If the state board does not require the course in military training to be included in courses in health, safety and physical training, the question of the inclusion thereof, in such courses to be given in any district, shall be submitted to the legal voters of the district by referendum when the board of education of the district so determines by resolution or when a petition signed by at least 10% of the legal voters of the district requests the question to be so submitted. In districts in which annual school elections are held the petition shall be filed with the secretary of the board of education and the question shall be submitted at the next ensuing annual, or at a special school election following the nineteenth day after the filing of the petition and in all other districts the petition shall be filed with the clerk of the municipality and the question shall be submitted at the next ensuing general election following the thirty-fourth day after the filing of the petition.
