18A:33-27.5 Department of Agriculture, provision of summer per meal financial supplement; annual report; funds appropriation. 1. a. The Department of Agriculture, in consultation with the Department of Education, shall provide a 10-cent per meal supplement to the existing federal reimbursement to operators of the federal summer food service program and the Seamless Summer Option (SSO). b. The Department of Agriculture, in consultation with the Department of Education, shall provide guidance and support to school districts necessary to effectuate the purposes of this act. c. The Department of Agriculture shall prepare and issue an annual report to the Governor and, pursuant to section 2 of P.L.1991, c.164 (C.52:14-19.1), to the Legislature on the annual cost of the summer food service program and the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) supplement to the State per month, and the number of additional students, since the prior year, participating in the summer food service program or the Seamless Summer Option (SSO). d. The Legislature shall annually appropriate such funds as are necessary to implement this act. L.2021, c.246.
