18A:13-42. Pension and tenure rights; certain teachers transferred to regional districts; preserved Whenever a regional district has been created subsequent to April 1, 1951, or shall hereafter be created, for high school or junior high school education, the tenure and pension rights of any high school or junior high school teacher, who, at the time of the holding of the election to create such regional district, was assigned for a majority of his time in a grade or grades from grades seven to 12 inclusive, in any high school or junior high school in any of the constituent districts of such regional district, shall be recognized and preserved by the board of education of the regional district in the organization and operation of any high school or junior high school in the regional district, and any period of employment in any one or more of the high schools or junior high schools of any such constituent district or districts, shall count toward the acquisition of tenure in the regional district, but nothing in this section shall be applicable to any superintendent or high school or junior high school principal.
