18A:12-17. Appointments; terms; vacancies The mayor or other chief executive officer of the municipality shall, between April 1 and April 15 in each year, appoint one member of the board to serve for a term of 5 years beginning on May 15 next succeeding his appointment, to take the place of the member whose term shall expire in that year, and any vacancy occurring in the membership of the board shall be reported forthwith by the secretary of the board to the mayor or other chief executive officer of the municipality, who shall within 30 days thereafter appoint a qualified person to fill the vacancy for the unexpired term.
