Election of trustees; tenure

16:1-8. Election of trustees; tenure Any religious society or congregation may, at the meeting for the election of trustees, provide, by by-law or resolution, for the election of its trustees for 3 years. In such event the number of trustees shall be fixed at the first election under this section by such society or congregation and shall be divided, as near as can be, into 3 equal numbers, 1 part of which shall be elected for 1 year, 1 part for 2 years, and 1 part for 3 years, and annually thereafter the terms of those expiring shall be filled for a period of 3 years.
