Motor vehicles; operation in violation of noise standards; penalty

13:1G-9. Motor vehicles; operation in violation of noise standards; penalty Any person who operates a motor vehicle or owns a motor vehicle which he permits to be operated upon the public highways of this State which generates noise in excess of standards adopted by the department shall be liable to a penalty of not less than $25.00 nor more than $1,000.00 which shall be enforced in accordance with the provisions of chapter 5 of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes.
