13:1B-15.120. Trustees; terms; appointment; chairman The powers and duties of the trust shall vest in and be exercised by a board of 11 trustees comprised initially of the six members of the Natural Areas Council, who shall serve for terms co-extensive with their respective terms on the council, and shall be succeeded by trustees appointed by the Governor from a list of candidates nominated by a nominating committee provided by a group of nonprofit New Jersey corporations having open space preservation or environmental education as their corporate purpose, such as North Jersey Conservation Foundation, New Jersey Audubon Society, Rutgers, The State University, New Jersey Federation of Women's Clubs, Conservation and Garden Department, New Jersey Federation of Garden Clubs, and Watershed Associations incorporated in the State of New Jersey. Organizations must apply to the trustees in order to provide one member to the nominating committee. The trustees thus appointed will serve for 3-year terms, each of whom will continue to serve until succeeded. The remaining trustees shall be: a member of the State House Commission designated by the Governor, and by virtue of their offices, the State Treasurer, the Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection and two members of the staff of the Department of Environmental Protection designated by the commissioner, or their respective representatives. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Natural Lands Trust shall be elected by the trustees. The concurrence of six members of the board shall be necessary to the validity of all acts of the board. No compensation; reimbursement The trustees shall serve without compensation, but the trust may reimburse its members for necessary expenses incurred in the discharge of their duties.
